In 1972, Assamese women staying in Calcutta formed the Assamese Women’s Association ( AWA) and had 50 glorious years of work to the society. In 2023, the Assamese Women’s Association was formally incorporated as a Society on the 20th January 2023 under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act 1961 in the name of Kolkata Assamese Women’s Welfare Association ( KAWWA )
KAWWA is involved in various socio cultural and welfare activities for the development of the society in Kolkata. Member to the Association is voluntary. Monthly meetings are held at the Assam Bhawan premises.
